This has to be the most difficult page to put together and after much persuading to write something about myself - here goes!!
I have been drawing and painting animals for as long as I can remember and spent most of my free time either drawing my pet cat and dogs or riding and drawing horses. I have always loved horses, riding them, watching them and of course drawing and painting them. At school most of the stories I wrote in English lessons, included horses, just so that I could draw horses in the accompanying picture. In Junior School I won first prize in an art competition - a painting of Noah's Ark! Little did I know that painting animals would later became my career.
I spent four years at Art School studying graphic design and illustration - but always returned to drawing animals. During my time at Art School I won fourth prize in a national art competition Since leaving Art College I have exhibited work in several exhibitions including the Kennel Club and the Northumbrian Wildlife and Landscape Artist Exhibition.

After painting several friend’s pets I decided to concentrate on animal portraiture.
I paint using water colours and gouache which gives a delicate and detailed feel to the picture. I also work with both graphite and coloured pencils.
I think it is vital to try to bring out the character of the animal in the painting or drawing. Every animal owner knows that their animals have very distinct personalities - They may not be able to speak but the expressions on their faces can speak volumes.
