Stage one: Start with a sketch. |

Stage two: Add a light wash. |

Stage three: Begin adding tones from light to dark. |

Stage four: By adding some eye colour the dog begins to take on a personality. |

Stage five: As this is not a commission I am not trying to match the colours. The photo was over exposed so I am having to match the colour from memory. |

Stage six: From now on I begin to add detail as well as building up tone. |

Stage seven: Once I am happy with the tone I begin to add more and more detail. I would also begin adding highlights. |

Stage eight: This is my favourite stage. Adding more detail to create depth. |
